Services for Kathryn Derrick Merrill, 57, will be conducted at 3:00 pm Sunday at Leesville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sandra King officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm Saturday at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium Historic B-L Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Leesville UMC Steeple Fund, 510 East Columbia Ave., Leesville, SC 29070.
Ms. Merrill passed away Thursday July 8, 2010 after a long battle with cancer. Born at Batesburg, she was a daughter of Joe Sammy and Elizabeth Winn Derrick. She was a member of Leesville UMC, the Open Door SS Class and the Ridge Road Community Club. She was an Ophthalmology Tec at Columbia Eye Clinic and had worked for the late Dr. Edward Schlaefer, Jr.
Surviving are a son, Scott A. Merrill of Leesville, a daughter, Jill Beza (Nic) of Lexington, her parents of Leesville, brothers Richard and Steve Derrick of Leesville, sisters, Sandra Hayes and Judy Rowe of Columbia, grandchildren, Nikko and Jojo Beza, and Harper Merrill. She was predeceased by a brother Alvin Derrick.
