Minnie Gay Crickenberger, 95, went to be with her Lord on July 5, 2010, at Lexington Medical Center Extended Care in Lexington, SC. She was born in Augusta, GA, on April 7, 1915, daughter of Forest A. and Nellie Burdick Gay. She married William R. Crickenberger on May 11, 1937. They resided in Augusta, GA, until they moved to Batesburg-Leesville, SC, in 1949. She lived there until 2003 when she moved to Lexington.
She was a charter member of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Batesburg, and attended Corpus Christi Catholic Church since moving to Lexington. Minnie was active in church and community as long as her health permitted. Her work history included being a telephone operator for Bell South, co-owner and operator of the Laundryteria, and a salesperson for Addy's, The Fashion Shop, and Economy Furniture Company, retiring in 1995 at age 80.
Minnie is survived by two daughters, Barbara (William C.) Bodie of Lexington, SC and Pat (Gene Ralph) Riley of Florence, SC; grandson Mike (Cindy) Bodie; granddaughters, Regina (Robert) Pound and Beth (Barry) Keith; great grandchildren, Tanner and Chandler Keith, Brandon Bodie, Emma and Sarah Pound; a brother-in-law, Joseph Olivier and several nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, parents, and two sisters, Billie G. Olivier and Ann G. Bradford.
Services for Minnie Gay Crickenberger will be held 11:00am Thursday July 8, 2010 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Leesville Cemetery. The family will receive friends after the burial at Wittenberg Lutheran Church. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium Lexington Chapel are assisting the family.
