Evelyn Etheredge Sharpe, 98 widow of W. H. Sharpe passed into eternal rest Monday February 22, 2010. Graveside services will be Tuesday February 23, 2010 at 2:00 pm in Elmwood Cemetery with the Rev. Joe Cal Watson officiating.
Born in Saluda County she was the daughter of the late Herman Elwell Etheredge and Ever Lucy Addy Etheredge. Mrs. Sharpe was a resident of Saluda Nursing Home but spent most of her life in Columbia, Irmo and Lexington. She retired from Columbia City Public Schools food service division; she was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Columbia and a member of Mothers Sunday School Class and the Coffee Club. Mrs.Sharpe was a graduate of Winthrop College. In liew of flowers memorial may be made to Main St. United Methodist Church, Saluda Nursing Center or a charity of one's choice.
She is survived by her sons Herbert E. Sharpe and wife Catherine of Lexington, SC and W. Herman Sharpe and wife Elizabeth of Camden, SC., grandsons Stan Sharpe of Camden, Herb Sharpe (Jean) of Charlotte, NC and Grady Sharpe (Shannon) of Lexington, SC, three great-granddaughters, Chandler Sharpe of Charlotte, NC; Molly and Meredith Sharpe of Lexington, SC, and sisters-in-law Syble and Margaret Etheredge. Mrs. Sharpe was predeceased by brothers Dalton and Herman Etheredge and Sisters Marie Shook and Verda Mae Matthews. The family wishes to express appreciation to the staff of Saluda Nursing Center for their loving care and support.
